Jayne-Maree Sedgman worked as television and radio journalist for 15 years before becoming an accredited media trainer and Principal of Media Savvy.

Her career took her from Geraldton to Perth, Brisbane and then London where she spent three-and-a-half years freelancing for several of the major news networks including the BBC and Reuters. After returning to Australia, Jayne-Maree joined the ABC in Sydney. Over the next eight years she worked for TV and Radio News as well as Radio Current Affairs mastering every role in the newsroom from reporter to producer, sub-editor to newsreader. But it was chasing stories and conducting interviews that gave her the most satisfaction – skills she now uses to great effect when explaining just what clients can expect from the media.

Jayne-Maree also has experience in corporate communication gained while working in media relations for a large corporate in 2003. That experience has given her a unique perspective on how to balance the media’s needs with the client’s best interests.

Jayne-Maree has a BA in Journalism and a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.

She is a member of the Public Relations Institute of Australia and regularly conducts workshops for their NSW and ACT branches.
